Sam is a Scottish teacher, performer, and sessionist, who's twenty years of experience has established SB Lessons as one of the top choices for drum tuition in the city of Edinburgh. His formal education on Edinburgh Napier University's Popular Music degree program gives him a wide-spanning knowledge of all modern contemporary styles and genres. Sam takes both a balanced and custom-tailored approach to tuition, prioritizing the student's needs while making sure an equal balance of knowledge and enthusiasm is cultivated.

Students are supported thoughout their learning, both inside and outside of classes. Lessons are tailored and adjusted based on factors such as personal goals, learning ability, and accessibility needs. We avoid a 'one-size-fits-all' approach as no two students are the same. Students are given access to lesson summaries, notes, and feedback outside of their classes should they wish to monitor their progress and review their practice objectives.

Our studio is built specifically with drummers and kit tuition in mind. We house two professional standard drumkits, regularly maintained and optimally tuned. Our 'room-within-a-room' construction blueprint helps completely isolate the noise, providing a clear, defined sound that's ideal for both teaching and practice purposes. Students have access to a wide library of instructional texts, exercises, videos, and multimedia files that help to direct and enhance their learning journey.
COMPLIMENTARY TRIAL
COMPLIMENTARY TRIAL
All new students are entitled to a complimentary 30-minute trial lesson. This is a great opportunity to meet Sam for an initial chat about what your needs are, get a feel for how a typical lesson would go, and get accustomed to the facilities and location. This is a completely free service and without any expectation afterwards, so you can try-before-you-buy comfortably without commital until you decide what's right for you.
